Fireflies

This program is designed to hold a learning space for women and non-binary people who would like to experience a playful way of connecting to nature and learn introductory bushcraft and camping skills!

Let’s face it – sawing logs, camping in the woods and tending a fire can be intimidating for many of us… especially if you’re not a man. But it doesn’t have to be that way! If you’ve ever craved a supportive space to learn how to be at home in the woods, join us. There is something magical that happens when a group of people get together and use their hearts, minds and bodies to experience the web of interconnectedness within the natural world. We become stronger and more relaxed, even when we face the coldest of weather conditions or the thickest of forests.

This program is designed to hold a learning space for women and non-binary people who would like to experience a playful way of connecting to nature and learn introductory bushcraft and camping skills. Our common goal will be to develop confidence and a sense of comfort in the outdoors as a group and as individuals. We will dive into playful activities that open up our senses to nature; we will examine ways to safely experience the outdoors while practicing bushcraft skills, doing handcrafts and generally having a good time together. And… we will be doing most of this in the city!
This program is an opportunity to get closer to our urban ecosystems and discover them through the changes of the seasons and the night time. We invite you to come to the course with your inner-child’s eagerness to experience the wonders and magic of Nature.

This program will end with a two night camp-out trip where we will fine tune our skills, go on hikes and feel cozy amongst the trees, birds and forest critters.
